In this guest blog, our UKENIC23 conference platinum partner, Skills for English, sets out how its English language testing services help empower people across the globe to pursue education and employment opportunities.
In today’s globalised world, the demand for English language proficiency has soared, as countries seek to attract top talent and strengthen international ties.
In this context, PSI, a leading global provider of testing solutions, has been at the forefront of providing English language testing services, with one of its flagship offerings being the Home Office-approved Secure English Language Test (SELT), known as Skills for English.
Skills for English has emerged as a preferred choice for individuals seeking UK visas and immigration due to its wide availability in multiple countries. PSI’s commitment to making English language testing accessible has resulted in a remarkable five-fold year-on-year growth for Skills for English, making it the most accessible SELT in the world.
One of the key drivers behind this growth has been PSI’s focus on expanding test delivery options. With both test centre and online proctoring facilities, individuals can now conveniently take the test, irrespective of their location. This accessibility has been a game-changer, particularly in regions like Africa and South East Asia, where there has been an exceptionally strong demand for SELT services.
Supporting the Department for Business and Trade’s agenda, PSI has strategically opened Skills for English test centres in countries that were previously underserved by other providers. As a result, the test is now available in a staggering 300 Home Office-approved test centres across 130 countries, surpassing any other SELT provider in terms of global reach.
At present, Skills for English stands as the sole SELT approved for UK Visa and Immigration purposes in eight countries, catering to a combined population of 60 million. These countries include Barbados, Bolivia, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Guyana, and Haiti. Additionally, PSI is one of only two providers in 12 more countries, serving a population of 175 million.
The collaboration with the International House World Organisation (IHWO) further underscores PSI’s dedication to expanding its testing portfolio. By partnering with IHWO, PSI’s suite of English tests, including Skills for English, is now available to over 150 affiliated language schools in more than 50 countries across every continent. This strategic partnership with IHWO has paved the way for PSI’s continued growth and influence in the English language testing landscape.
PSI’s Skills for English has emerged as a global leader in providing English language testing services for UK visas and immigration. With its unmatched availability in 130 countries and a strategic focus on expanding access to underserved regions, PSI has undoubtedly played a vital role in empowering individuals worldwide with the language skills necessary to pursue their dreams in education and employment opportunities.
As the world continues to evolve and embrace interconnectedness, PSI’s commitment to language proficiency testing remains unwavering, making it a key player in shaping a borderless future.
