The third meeting of the European Qualifications Passport for Refugees (EQPR) project coordination group took place in The Hague on 11 April.
The meeting was also attended by representatives from fellow qualification recognition centres in Armenia, Canada, Germany, Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, and Norway.
Henry Huggett from UK NARIC spoke about the recent work on our ‘Syrians in Jordan’ project, which is an extension of the EQPR methodology.
The day was an opportunity for primary stakeholders in the EQPR project to catch up on the progress made over recent months and discuss future possibilities for the development and up-scaling of the EQPR service.
The project is based on the Council of Europe Lisbon Recognition Convention, which was adopted 22 years ago, to the day.
Partners of the project include the Greek Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs; the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research; the Conference of University Rectors of Italy; the Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research; and the Government of Flanders – Belgium
The EQPR is a document providing an assessment of the higher education qualifications based on available documentation and a structured interview. It also presents information on the applicant’s work experience and language proficiency.
The document provides reliable information for integration and progression towards employment and admission to further studies. It is a specially developed assessment scheme for refugees, even for those who cannot fully document their qualifications.
Plans are now under way for the 4th Project Coordination Group Meeting, provisionally scheduled to take place in Paris, in November 2019.
